Red Crossers put their experience to work last weekend by serving approximately 1,150 trick-or-treaters at 3 Trunk-or-Treat events. Service to the Armed Forces (SAF) workers handed out treats, gave tours of the Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) and handed out educational information.
“It was fun to decorate and bring out our big ERV (emergency response vehicle) and give tours,” said SAF Red Cross AmeriCorps Rebecca Medicine Eagle. “We gave tours to about 250 active-duty children and adults and explained mass care and canteening. It was so fun!”
The SAF “bloodmobile” proudly took home the award for most colorful trunk at Camp Murray, and parents were pleased by the healthy treats provided.
At another event, the Red Cross took home the best treat award for their healthy, low-fat chocolate chip granola bars.
Red Crossers distributed “Getting to Know You,” “Coping with Deployments” and “Reconnection Workshops” materials. The events took place at Camp Murray, the Warrior Transition Battalion and the 1-2 Striker Brigade Combat Team.
