My name is Caitlyn Richter, I’m 22, and I am the AmeriCorps member with the Washington Service Corps – serving at the Wenatchee Red Cross office as the Community Preparedness Coordinator.
I chose to volunteer as an AmeriCorps with the Red Cross because in May 2016, my college home in Bozeman, Montana caught on fire, and at 3 a.m. two Red Cross volunteers showed up and helped me and my roommates get a hotel room.
It was a very scary experience, but what I took away was that being prepared for anything is incredibly important, and I want to help others before and after they experience what I did.
Help others prepare for disasters, become a Red Cross volunteer.
