My search for a meaningful volunteer opportunity while adding value to my career brought me to the American Red Cross earlier this year. I joined in February 2020 and today I am a reporting analyst supporting Volunteer Services at the national level.
I help with a lot of work behind the scenes, automating a few excel reports for the Volunteer Services team and adding insights to them. More recently I have handled few special projects, like COVID-19 reporting.
Being a full time mom of two kids, I have very few hours to devote to volunteering during the day. I find volunteering at Red cross very flexible and am able to work at my own pace.
At the end of the day I feel good about doing something of value. I see this opportunity as a win-win for me as I am able to give back to the society in my own little way and feel good about it. The experience has also been a huge learning opportunity.
