Tim Jennings is a Registered Nurse at Yakima Valley Memorial (rockin’ his scrubs, we might add!). He recently donated blood at an American Red Cross blood drive in Kittitas County. As a medical worker, he has first-hand knowledge of how blood products make a difference in the lives of people in need. Which is why we were surprised to learn about his inspiration to donate in the first place! Can we get a round of applause for Tim’s wife?
What motivated you to make your first donation?
“My wife suggested it and I enjoyed the process (mostly) plus I’m O neg so that’s always helpful.”
What would you tell someone who is considering blood donation for the first time?
“Do it. Donating is fairly quick and a great way to get free snacks (and a warm fuzzy feeling)!”
Did you know hospitals request type O blood the most? While the Red Cross needs donors of all blood types, type O is especially needed right now. The Red Cross has faced a concerning drop in blood and platelet donations this summer. Patients are counting on YOU! Please make an appointment now at rcblood.org/donate to help prevent a blood shortage. Type O negative (like Tim!) and platelet donors are especially needed.
