On September 3rd, we welcomed our new Americorps team members.
They arrived with shining faces and overnight bags. Their first two days of orientation were packed with information, team building, and exotic animals.
After a full day of training, the group left for the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle. They spent the evening learning, enjoying the animals, and bonding as a team. Before bed, the group was introduced to David the snake. That night the team learned firsthand what it’s like to sleep on an American Red Cross cot. At 10:30 it was lights out!
They spent quality time with a pair of otters, ran with arctic wolves, and witnessed a penguin feeding.
What a wonderful way to welcome a new Americorps group to the Western Washington region! We are looking forward to seeing the great work they will do over the next ten months!
