Israel Arreola lives in Skagit County, WA. He is a high school student and active Red Cross volunteer.

I was drawn to join the American Red Cross when I saw all the amazing things they were doing on a National level. I knew that I wanted to be one of those amazing volunteers one day, I wanted to help.

For as long as I can remember I have been dedicated to serving the public. I joined my schools ASB program in the 3rd grade and I raised $1,500.00 to help recovery efforts in the 2015 Peru Earthquakes.

The Red Cross is an amazing way for me to help my community and I know I am making a difference.

Today I am the Volunteer Connection Team Lead, with responsibilities that include admin support and making sure volunteers are processed in a timely manner. It feels amazing when a prospective volunteer is accepted onto a Red Cross team, and I know I was part of getting them there.

I also joined our local DAT (Disaster Action Team) to support them in local events such as fairs, parades, and local recruitment efforts. I love meeting with the community, when they thank us for what we do. I truly love what I do.

I love the team I work with. All of them are super supportive, I have an amazing supervisor who is always willing to check in with me, and makes sure that I am okay. I love going out on the road with the DAT and talking about all the amazing things they do. I can’t wait till I am able to be a full DAT Member.

I love the American Red Cross, I will forever be a dedicated Red Cross Volunteer.

We have opportunities for all skills and ages. Join our team. Visit RedCross.org to get started.
