For more than a century, the American Red Cross Mount Rainier Chapter has been a community leader in emergency preparedness and response. The annual Heroes Breakfast event honors a longstanding tradition of heroism by recognizing local individuals whose extraordinary acts make them a hero.
This October, the Pierce County Heroes Breakfast celebrated its 20th Anniversary. In 1993, Carter Taylor created a fundraiser to honor local heroes. Today, her Heroes Breakfast event model is used across the country by local Red Cross chapters.
People in Pierce County make a difference in the lives of others every day. They show kindness and compassion, and give of themselves in unexpected and extraordinary ways. We are honored that this local connection has created a national model for honoring exemplary individuals everywhere.
We are always seeking nominations for heroes in Western Washington. The King County Heroes Breakfast will be on Thursday, March 20, 2014. For more information or to nominate a hero, please visit our website.
