Disha Sharma says she’s always had an urge to serve her community. She’s also known for years that the Red Cross is an organization dedicated to helping others. But it wasn’t until the Covid-19 pandemic struck that she noticed just how much the Red Cross served her community – from donating blood to providing food and comfort to those in need.
“It truly inspired me to be a part of this great organization,” she said.
She decided to sign up and join the Red Cross, becoming a volunteer for the Northwest Region Communications team in November 2021. Her exuberant attitude has been a welcome attribute. She’s eager to help and tackles every task with a smile.
Disha is now able to give back by telling the stories of other Red Cross volunteers. She learns about their experiences within the Red Cross and their connection to the mission, writing it all into a story to share with our fellow volunteers, partners and friends. She also plans to cover some important upcoming events in the Northwest Region within the next year.
“I really enjoy working in this team. It’s such an enthusiastic team, full of energy,” said Disha. “It has members of different age groups who share interesting stories and experiences.”
She says she plans to continue to support the Red Cross in any way she can. “I hope my involvement here also inspires others to be a part of this organization, and together we can bring difference and hope in people’s lives.”
