This past Saturday October 5th from 9 to 11 am, our First Aid Stations Team (FAST) members participated in the 4th annual CFC 5K Fun Run/Walk, sponsored by Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility. All the proceeds went to the Greater Olympic Peninsula United Way with the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC).
All running and walking abilities were welcomed… including puppies! The course crossed Warren Ave. Bridge, around through Manette, then west across Manette Bridge ending back at Evergreen Park. Last year’s event brought out just over 400 participants and it looked like they reached that goal again for this year!
Kid’s Dashes are for participants 10 and under and there were about a dozen or so children who participated in the dash this year.
Our FAST team only saw one person, who was treated for a bee sting.
They also handed out free bottles of water (donated by Albertsons) to participants with stickers that had the Red Cross CFC number on them, encouraging participants to support Red Cross in the CFC!
A big thank you to our FAST team for their work that day!
